  • ( ) Royal baby has 'mystery illness'

THE baby son of the Earl and Countess of Wessex is undergoing tests after being admitted to hospital with a mystery illness yesterday.

Five-week-old James spent the night in a private ward at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital and doctors were expected to carry out further examinations this morning.

No details of the baby's condition were released but friends of his parents, Prince Edward and Sophie, told the Daily Mail it was "absolutely not life-threatening".

"He is only five weeks old so it follows that people will be concerned, but Sophie has reassured everyone that there is nothing to worry about," an unnamed source told the British newspaper.

"Edward has a series of engagements in Worcestershire on Friday and it looks like he is going to keep them, which is a sign, we hope, that things aren't too serious."

Sophie, 43, reportedly stayed in the hospital overnight with her son. More>>

  • ( ) Keeping Baby's Skin Soft

Winter can be hard on anyone's skin, especially if you're a newborn baby. Jessica Hartshorn, Sr. Lifestyle's Editor of American Baby Magazine, has some suggestions for keeping baby's skin soft and supple this winter.

First, remember that just because it's cold outside doesn't mean you should overdress your baby. "I think new parents get a little freaked out about the cold temperature, so even if they're just going out for a short walk, they'll put their baby in a romper, and then a sweater, and then a jacket, and then they slide them into the little bundle me on the stroller and put a blanket over that..." says Hartshorn. "They only need one more layer than you're wearing." So, if you're comfortable going out in a sweater and a jacket, dress baby the same way, plus one. Throw a blanket over their stroller and they'll be just fine. More>>
